Bagasse fiber is a deep-processed product of bagasse, also known as bagasse cellulose. It has a very wide range of applications in the fields of biofuels, composite materials, and degradable materials. Bagasse is the main by-product of the sugarcane sugar industry process. It is the solid fiber residue of sugarcane stems left after sugarcane is mechanically crushed, multi-roll pressed and solid-liquid (cane juice) separated. It is a renewable, abundant resource suitable for the production of bio-based products such as biofuels and chemicals, an ideal alternative to traditional petroleum-based fuels, and the backbone of the biorefinery concept. Bagasse biomass is mainly composed of three components: cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which have the advantages of being renewable, low cost, environmentally friendly, biocompatible, and biodegradable, and can be converted into high value-added, sustainable nanomaterials, green chemicals, biofuels, etc., are conducive to creating high value-added products, ensuring energy security and solving environmental pollution problems. The upstream of the bagasse fiber industry chain is mainly bagasse, which can be used to produce disposable bagasse packaging products, such as bagasse cup lids, bagasse cups, and bagasse tableware. The downstream is widely used in papermaking, textile, sewage treatment, wood-plastic composite materials, and other fields.

From the perspective of price trends, the domestic bagasse fiber market price has shown an overall growth trend in recent years, from 3,624 yuan/ton in 2014 to 4,208 yuan/ton in 2021. In the future, the price of bagasse fiber products will also show a growth trend. It is expected that In 2022, the market price of bagasse fiber in China will reach 4261 yuan/ton.
